Default Which kernel opts for TV card?

I´m using a Pinnacle PCTV PCI card and have been using the bttv driver
module for it with no problems for quite some time. I have recently
upgraded my kernel to 2.6.12-gentoo-r1 and noticed the section digital
video broadcast devices has
< > Nebula/Pinnacle PCTV/Twinhan PCI cards (NEW)
as an option.
Am I correct in thinking that this is a newer type of
PCTV card that recieves digital terrestrial channels as opposed to the
old analog tv cards?
Does anyone know where there is a guide to supported digital broadcast
cards that are known to work, I´ve got mythtv working with my analog card
and I now want to build a digital pvr.
