| Hi I've been using the 2.6 kernel for a while and during this period I've gotten this warning from lilo Warning: Kernel & BIOS return differing head/sector geometries for device 0x80 Kernel: 13328 cylinders, 15 heads, 63 sectors BIOS: 783 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors It doesn't give any problems I just find the warning a bit annoying, so any ideas ? It seems to me like older BIOS problem with _ages_old_ 512 MB IDE disks. AFAIK, BIOS reports gets used by LILO/GRUB only during the first boot phase just to get to the kernel. After that, kernel autosenses the disk and ignores BIOS settings. So, this might create problems if your kernel image was out of the reach of BIOS settings (ie after 783 cyl). If not, thing should boot fine.... Branko |
