Hello everybody,

I have a ThinkPad laptop and want to secure my home partition. In the
case somebody steals my laptop I'd like to go sure my data is safe...

There are many different encryption programs out there. I'd like you
to help me choosing the solution that suites best to my needs.

Of course the program should be easy to install and even more
important fast. But the most important thing is the following:

I use the fingerprint reader in my laptop for login. I am no expert in
cryptography but I know, that it won't be possible to decrypt my
encrypted home partition without entering a key. I am looking for an
encryption system which makes it very easy to enter the key. I could
image two solutions:

(1) Fingerprint reader with integrated key
It is somehow possible to connect both. I only have to swipe my finger
and my home partition gets accessible.

(2) Fingerprint for plain login and key for accessing special data
For surfing the net I login via fingerprint and only for accessing a
special subdirectory with my important data.


Please post ideas if you think you know a way how to realize that. If
you know any other technique to get high security with nice comfort
feel free to add that. I am interested in everything that suites my
needs and is available via Gentoo Portage (don't like overlays).
