| I succeded to install a gentoo mirror for a LAN, but it covers the portage tree, no distfiles (which is the most wanted feature in the LAN). Is it possible to sync distfiles also using rsync or do i have to set up a http/ftp mirror as well? Next question: Is Editing SYNC in make.conf the only way for clients in the LAN to use the local mirror? I guess GENTOO_MIRRORS is just for distfiles, is'nt it? thx, Jan |

| Yes, you can use rsync to sync the distfiles (keep in mind though that the archive is quite large). But, googling is powerful. http://users.netwit.net.au/~pursang/l-faq.pdf http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/index.xml |

You could modify FETCHCOMMAND to pull files using rsync instead of wget if you wanted. > > Next question: Is Editing SYNC in make.conf the only way for clients in > the LAN to use the local mirror? AFAIK, for the x86 arch (including ~x86), all the distfiles are about 22g so its probably not something you'll get in one night) -- Shan Destromp --- Sent: Sun, Jan 18, 2004 @ 02.43.05 EST ---- OS: GNU/Linux 2.4.22-gentoo-r4 Processor: AuthenticAMD i686 |
