| On or about Jan 26, this year, I did emerge -s kernel > kernel-sources Today, I happened to notice that the file 'kernel-sources' contained this: * sys-libs/obsd-sources [ Masked ] Latest version available: 3.4_p8 Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ] Size of downloaded files: 90,604 kB Homepage: http://www.openbsd.com/ Description: OpenBSD userland and kernel sources Hmm, I thought to myself, that sounds interesting, but when I went looking for it, I found that emerge no longer seems to know anything about any obsd-sources -- and when I checked Gentoo.Org, the only reference to 'obsd-sources' that I found (http://www.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewcv.../obsd-sources/) seems to indicate that the whole idea, whatever it was, has been dropped. Now I'm curious: what was that idea, was it dropped, and if so, why? Please excuse me is this is a FAQ. Thanks, Dave B. |
