| Hello, Gentoo was installed on a PII-400 (BX chipset with 192 MB RAM) from scratch. Not directly from a installation cd but optimized for the system as much as possible. Did a decent job for me. Now i have the same installation running on a Celeron 2.4 GHz with 512 MB RAM and of course a different (Intel 845) chipset. I'm wondering now if it worth the work to recompile the kernel for the new system. I guess with P4 optimizations, but will i notice the difference? regards, Jan Hoolwerf -- + email : newsgroup@hoolwerf.invalid + http://www.hoolwerf.invalid + + change invalid into net |
