Hello,

my Gentoo 2005.0 is awkward when it comes to logins.
What I've been doing is:
-login
-init 1 (for plugging in cable into network card due to dhcpcd)
-init 3
-type something and get the login prompt,
-enter user name, return
-no prompt for password
-type something, get the password prompt
-no login possible although the credentials are correct

Any clues?

On occasion this happens on my box and I've no idea why. Next attempt always
works.
