Yes, modules have changed names and been added/removed between 2.4 and 2.6. You should perhaps try to find a livecd that uses a 2.6 kernel instead. Familiarity with your own hardware will of course be a good starting point in either case. If you know what's in your machine, you can probably find and tick off most of the stuff you'll need in the menuconfig dialogs. -- Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
