Xchat output is all messed up... each lines misses a few letters near the
end, making xchat nearly impossible to work with. When I select that line,
and move the mouse around, the letters appear but they are mangled. Anyone
else has this problem? Any ideas?

The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a
capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the
safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

It is latest portage version (2.4.1-r1). 2.4.2 is available at their
homepage

Have you tried different fonts? Proportional fonts don't do too well in
xchat.

Already tried "revdep-rebuild"? I don't think it'll fix your problem,
but you never know. And it's only one simple command, so if it does
work you're happy ;-)
