| I've got SpamAssassin running with kmail and it works correctly but as I'm having to download over 100 spam items a day before I can filter them, I was wondering if it was possible to detect spam on the server and delete it at source. Is there a way of detecting known spam via a reference site such as Spamhaus and then deleting it at my mail sever address? I'm using broadband on an NTL cable modem, it is just a standard pop3 server. |

NTL alledgedly already apply spam filtering to your incoming mail. I am also an NTL user however, and I also get about 100 items a day. Draw your own conclusions I think. At least if you filter locally, you have the chance to skim through the spam just before you dump it for good, in case any real stuff has been caught be mistake, although with my (default) set-up, I don't recall it ever happening. -- Jon ____________________________________________ jondotrogersatntlworlddotcom ============================================ |

See this thread: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-112331.html I used this method for a while. -- Leif Biberg Kristensen I don't have a hardware problem -- I can quit buying hardware whenever I want! |

According to my experience, the probability to have a good mail marked as spam is close to zero (at least less than 1 in 3000, I checked that) once the Bayesian filter is trained, so if it was possible to export one's database to the local server it would be a nice thing. |
