| I just installed kernel 2.6.3 because i just did thats why... great news, my logitech mouse and keyboard are WORKING!! YEA.... But my 3Com 59x ehternet card doesn't seem to be working now. I mean it works... im writing and sending this...it just doesnt seem to wanna work in gentoo. when i boot up i get this message... " Failed to bring eth0 up ERROR: Problem starting needed services. "netmount" was not started my /etc/conf.d/net is set on iface eth0="dhcp" because i have "superquickinternetservice" (That is as long as im not in gentoo) and thats just the way it is. Doing a menuconfig for the kernel, all the dhcp places that i could find and my particular nic card is checked...in fact, i checked all the 3Com cards justin case. When that didnt work, i made modules outa them thar...justin case... cp'ed to arch, System.map and .config and still!!! nada didaugh rc-update add net.eth0 default and my computer is a happy camper. seems others at gentoo forums got there's goin with rc-update n stuff simple like that, but not me. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME? Maybe i shouldn't take this personally...Its got to be this COMPUTER! Its driving me nuts! Any suggestions and help would be very desirious or wonderfully accepted since i cant spell desirious. Thanks |

YEA.... > > But my 3Com 59x ehternet card doesn't seem to be working now. I mean > it works... im writing and sending this...it just doesnt seem to > wanna work in gentoo. If you were previously using 2.4, you have to update /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 to somewhat resemble kernel-2.4 in the same place. Adding "3c59x" to it might be sufficient. hth. -- Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
