| Hi, I just found out emerge -Du world things are evil, but it's kinda too late already, so here goes... root can not accees his mail anymore , located in /var/mail/root The rights (660) and ownership (root:adm) should be fine, but I get a complaint from mail that the file can not be opened for reading. I also can not change the rights (except u+x) or the owner. What is tha all about? Wimmy |

| Wim Cossement enlightened us with: > I just found out emerge -Du world things are evil Why? Only -U is evil, not -u. > root can not accees his mail anymore , located in /var/mail/root Root shouldn't receive mail, it should be forwarded to a regular user. Think about what would happen if someone mailed an exploit to your root account - you would execute it as root. Sybren -- The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? |
