| this one is driving me nuts, and googling shows nothing striking the issue is when I mount any sbp2 drive (tried several lacie D2 FW400 drives) drive, all mounts ok, and I can read/write etc from a shell without any issues now the strange one, fire up mc then try and copy to the same disk, or even move files around on that disk, and I get a I/O error nothing at all is noted in any logs, and once I exit mc all is well with the disk, fsck shows nothing wrong (ext2 formatted) the same is true if I try and write to the sbp2 disk via any form of network connection the drive is mounted on a box running gentoo sol6 2.6.7-gentoo-r11, as does one of the machines I tried to copy from across the network. Also tried a Mac as the source for a network copy, with no difference. moved the drive to the other gentoo box, which made no difference, upgraded kernels to the bleeding edge etc, also made no difference both gentoo boxes are identical hardware: ASUS P4C800E motherboard Intel P4 3.2GHz Prescott 2GB Ram 4 x 400GB HDD (internal) Nvidia 6800U adaptec 2940UW And yes I have tried this with HT on and off, which also made no difference any ideas? |
