| I have a AMD64 3200+ with a scsi ,symbios 53c895 controler, and i would like to install gentoo 2004.2 for amd 64 ,but when i boot from live cd (2004.2-amd64) the controler is not recognized and i can't install. There is away to load the symbios and install gentoo. Thanks VP |

So after booting from live-cd when 'boot:' is on the screen, enter gentoo doscsi (first loads gentoo kernel, the second various SCSI controller (at least the Adaptec I have). But anyhow, you will get to a command line and a 'modprobe sym53x8xx' should be possible (I don't know exactly the content of the live-de, but I expect to have all modules on the live-cd. In mycase I had to load the network driver manually (modprobe sk98lin). Good luck, Klaus |

| The only possibility,i tried,is to boot the live cd with a ide cd and than modprobe sym53c8xx and than the controler is recognozied. But.. i need a ide cdrom (or dvd). On gentoo-2004.2 for x86 i do not need a ide cdrom only boot: gentoo doscsi Thanks VP |
