| Hey! Say for instance I installed apache just to test a few things and now no longer need it at all, and *nothing* was compiled USE=apache" or anything. It was just installed for (literally) under two days. I thought that: CONFIG_PROTECT="" emerge unmerge apache would have over-ridden the config protect settings. I'm wrong it seems since etc was still protected and had to remove a bunch of stuff by hand still. Is there an easier way? And, no, etc-update didn't remove them for me. Thanx, Matt |

| Xanadu enlightened us with: > I thought that: > > CONFIG_PROTECT="" emerge unmerge apache > > would have over-ridden the config protect settings. Just guessing, but try CONFIG_PROTECT="-*" instead. Sybren -- The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? |
