| Hi I have an old laptop running Gentoo, but it currently doesn't have a network card. I was wondering whether it's possible to network over USB? USB over Ethernet or something? -- Jafar Calley SysAdmin - http://moonlife-records.com -------------------------------------- See the latest Mars and Saturn images http://fatcat.homelinux.org |

I also have an old laptop without an on-board Ethernet adapter, but I hook it up to my LAN through a PCMCIA 10 Mbit Ethernet adapter card. Not my favorite choice, but it works. ;-) -- With kind regards, *Aragorn* (Registered Gnu/Linux user # 223157) |

This machine had one, but it's now in my server which is also a laptop. I'm using it as a little development and learning machine. At the moment, transferring my webpages between machines is achieved with a usb stick. If ethernet over usb is possible can you point me to a howto? That way I can do an update which hasn't been done for a year! -- Jafar Calley SysAdmin - http://moonlife-records.com -------------------------------------- See the latest Mars and Saturn images http://fatcat.homelinux.org |

Perhaps you can find a suitable /HowTo/ on the subject here...: http://www.tldp.org Hope this helps! ;-) -- With kind regards, *Aragorn* (Registered Gnu/Linux user # 223157) |
