uuencode and uudecode are MIA?! command not found! Where can I find them?

Bingo, now how would I have known that uuencode was in sharutils if it
wasn't for good people like you in the gentoo community? Is there some
cross reference that I'm not aware of?

I really wish Gentoo had something similar to "pin" for SuSE, that can
tell you which package(s) a specific file is in.

"equery belongs <file>" only works for installed packages. For
uninstalled packages, I suppose a couple of minutes of Googling are in
order.
