| Just realized that X is always using CPU time, even when nothing is going on. Xorg 6.8.1 I boot to a console in level 3. Use a customized startx to load whichever WM I need. Now I notice though that X is always busy. I moved over from Slackware, and there was a note about booting to a GDM and how a console had to be opened to avoid this problem, but here I am booting to a console, so it should not occur. Is this a known issue? |

I think it may be related to X polling for events such as mouse clicks, windows being raised/lowered, mouse scroll wheel, etc. |

Interesting. I use Win4Lin and it has two modules that load at boot. If I enter a WM and do not launch Win4Lin, the X CPU usage is between 1-3 percent. If I launch Win4Lin and just have it remain idle, X CPU usage goes to 0%. I will report this as a possible issue to Nettraverse. |
