Default 8.1.7.4 on Win2K3

Greetings to the List...

Has anyone had any experience installing and running 8.1.7.4 on
Win2K3...? Any known pitfalls, etc...?
This IS a supported configuration, is it not...?

Thank you all in advance for your time and your expertise...!!

No it's not.

And even if it were, it wouldn't be supported for very long. Desupport
End Dates for 8i are:

Error Correction Support: 31-DEC-2004
Extended Support: 31-DEC-2007
Extended Maintenance Support: 31-DEC-2006

Any particular reason why you are interested in running a practically
obsolescent Oracle version on the latest and greatest O/S that Microsoft
can muster?

9i and 10g are where all the fun and action are at...

Regards
HJR

As far as I recall it is the 8i client only that will work on XP, not
sure about W2003, and it is *somewhat* supported with some caveats - a
simple check on metalink should tell you more...

We use Oracle 8.1.7.4.1 on Windows 2003 with no problems. No it is not
supported but we have had no problems.
