Default Installing Multiple Oracle Homes on Windows

Trying to install oracle client on windows xp .
There is an existent version 8 and version 9 fails
to install with insufficient permissions.
Is this possible ?Is there something I had to do to make this work?
Your directions are appreciated

Thank you

Michael

This is one of those situations where if you have to ask then maybe you
shouldn't be doing it. Did you read the install docs?

Installation, or database creation fails?
If it's the installation, the installation manual
states you should log on with local administrator
rights.

Thanks for your responses.
I did actually log on with local admin privileges but as you said I
would not be doing it if it was not necessary .
Any pointers are welcome

Are you specifying a new home directory for the v9 install?
You cannot use the existing v8 one.

I have not done this on XP, but have done so on Win2k.

Your email does not really include enough information
to provide any kind of diagnosis.

What permissions error?

From OUI? the OS? both?

Have you checked the installation logs?

Are you using the same login as the other install? There seems to be
more to it than just privileges, I don't know enough to speculate why,
but I've seen that requirement often.

@home.com is bogus.
"Why the long face, senator Kerry?" - I'm sure someone has said it,
somewhere.
