| Hello, We want to upgrade our 9i to 10g, and during this we would like to switch the OS from W2K server to RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 ES. Does anybody has any experience with this? I mean we made things like this before, but the only working solution to do the OS switch is the import/export, which is very slow. Is there any tricks or techiques to speed up this process, or somebody know any other solution? Thanks in advance, Janos Makadi Hungary |

This method is not necessarily 'very slow' provided you don't run with the default parameters. There used to be an article on Connor Mc Donalds site, http://oracledba.co.uk with tips to speed up (primarily) import. On 10g, according to Oracle, import is alos faster. -- Sybrand Bakker, Senior Oracle DBA |
