| Nope. There was Solaris-x86 port of Oracle up to 8i, but they stopped supporting the platform. And Linux port will most certainly not work on Solaris - these are two different operating systems. -- Vladimir Zakharychev (bob@dpsp-yes.com) http://www.dpsp-yes.com Dynamic PSP(tm) - the first true RAD toolkit for Oracle-based internet applications. Dear all, We are running Sun Solaris 8 (Intel x86 version), could I install Oracle Database 9i (Linux version) on our Solaris Server? Thanks for help. Maggie |

| Maggie, I suspect you will run into problems as the shared libraries are probably not compatible. I'm not saying it can't be done but there may be a certain amount of manual tweaking to get oracle to link correctly. You would be closer to the mark if you tried Oracle for Solaris as oracle doesn't care to much what type of processor you have underneath the OS just where to find and how to interact with the libraries Maggie wrote: > Dear all, > > We are running Sun Solaris 8 (Intel x86 version), could I install Oracle > Database 9i (Linux version) on our Solaris Server? > > Thanks for help. > > Maggie |
