| I figured it would be a good idea to post those recommendations right away since I just took the 701 DBA test and there are still some bytes on my neocortex First of all those are my recommendations based on what I did to pass the 701 test, and what kind of questions appeared on my test, so decide on your own what you are going to do Here is what I did 1 - Downloaded the tutorials from www.ibm.com/certify. There are tutorials for each chapter covered on the test. They are very good to give you some direction on where you should focus your study, like LOAD/IMPORT/EXPORT commands (there were 3 questions on my test related to those). I did not focus too much on the GUIs, like where to click, names of tabs, options, just what each of them does, where do they output the files, and that's how the questions came up for me. 2 - Infocenter Make sure to read all the options and mainly the usage notes of each command you will find on the tutorials, for example one quesiton was about specific options on some commands, and which commands can run statistics by themselves or when you are loading data. Read also about the catalog tables/views and their columns, there was a question asking which columns on syscat.tables you are supposed to check in order to find if it's a good idea to reorg a table 3 - Take the sample test First of all it only costs $10 dollars, so besides being very cheap it has a lot of questions you are going to find exactly on the real test, or at least with the same commands. That will not only give you a good idea about how you are prepared, but also what to expect on the real test. And again, the exam costs 150 bucks, so go spend the extra 10 4 - And of course practice the commands yourself, I find it's easier to remember things if you do it, and test it. That's about it If someone wants to contribute to this post PLEASE add information in regards to the test only, I was searching for posts like this and I could not find any. |
