Hi there folks.

I've been given the task of looking at the disk format (on Windows)
for DB2 backups. We need this format to write a porting tool of
sorts.

Can anyone point me in the direction of this information (if it
exsits).

As far as I know it isn't documented.

Thanks for this Anton,

I guess I'm not surprised that its not documented.. Don't suppose you
(or anyone else) knows if there is a site that has cracked the format
though?

What would it be good for? If the format changes in the future (maybe even
in a FixPak), your application just breaks.

Thats true Knut, but that's what my client is after, so I just try and
answer his questions.

They already do his with MS SQL it seems.

I think what you really want to use is db2look, export and import.

It's not documented and manipulating a database at this level is not
supported by IBM.
