DB2 Connect version needed for DB2 v6.1 (Mainframe)

If a client's mainframe is DB2 6.1 and they have DB2 Connect
Enterprise servers and clients 6.2, with newer clients running 7.2,
would .NET integration be supported with the existing DB2 Connect, or
is it mandatory to go to the latest version of DB2 Connect to support
..NET integration?
