Some features may not function correctly. Post Install Recommendations ---------------------------- Verify that you have access to the DB2 Information Center based on the choices you made during this installation. If you performed a typical o r a compact installation, verify that you can access the IBM Web site using the internet. If you performed a custom installation, verify that you can access the DB2 Information Center location specified during the installation. Run First Steps (db2fs) as a regular, non-privileged userid. You will need a supported web browser in the path of this userid and you must ex ecute the db2profile script from the instance to be administered. Install DB2 Developer Workbench. The DB2 Developer Workbench replaces the Development Center from DB2 UDB Version 8 on Windows. It is on a sep arate CD in your DB2 package. The Developer Workbench is a comprehensive development environment for creating, editing, debugging, deploying, and testing DB2 stored procedures and user-defined functions. You can also use this tool to create, edit and run SQL statements and XML querie s, and develop SQLJ applications. Review the response file created at /root/db2exp.rsp. Additional information about response file installation is available in the DB2 documen tation under "Installing DB2 using a response file". The "standard" group name for db2inst1 is db2grp1, for db2fenc1 is db2fgrp1 and for dasusr1 is dasadm1. Did you create the users manually yourself and then specify to use existing users as part of the install ? Suggest you rework to the above and try again. It looks like the software install went fine, so you should be OK to set up the instance manually using commands. After creating the instance there are a couple of additional steps you'll need to perform - Run as db2inst1 - db2set DB2COMM=TCPIP db2set DB2AUTOSTART=YES Run as root - /opt/ibm/db2/V9.1/cfg/db2ln In the .profile of db2inst1 and any users you are going to access DB2 from the command line you will want to put the following lines, if they don't already exist - if [ -f /home/db2inst1/sqllib/db2profile ]; then . /home/db2inst1/sqllib/db2profile fi You should then be able to start the instance, from db2inst1, by running - db2start DB2 should start automatically at boot time since we added the parameter to autostart the instance. Any more problems give me a shout. I've done this so many times now I can virtually do it in my sleep. I even wrote an article for IDUG Solutions Journal on installing DB2 V8 without the GUI way back in 2003 !!! HTH Phil Nelson ScotDB Limited (teamdba@scotdb.com) |
