DBI1281E The database manager configuration file could not be
initialized.

Explanation: An error occurred when attempting to initialize the
database manager configuration file. A DB2 Version 6 instance
could not be created or migrated.

User Response: Refer to the log file for problem determination.
Resolve the problem and try the command again. If the problem
persists, please contact IBM Support.


DBI1079I Output is saved in the log file /tmp/db2icrt.log.30834.

Explanation: All processed and failed operations have been saved
into this log file.

User Response: Do not modify this file in any way. This file is
for IBM Technical Support reference.

Can somebody help me ?

I've tried to install many times db2connect, before this version I'd
versione 8.1. It worked correctly. But now after the uninstall process of
8.1 and install process of 6.1 I've this log. During the end installation
everythings works correctly but at the end, during the creation of DB2
instance , I've have message of failure and the message says that the
operation is completed with errors.

Reason code 5 is this:

5. Either DB2CODEPAGE is set to a code page which the database
does not support, or the client's locale is not supported by
the database.

Why do you want to create a V6 instance, given that V6 is out of service for
years already?

My guess is that you try to run DB2 V6 on a Linux distribution/kernel for
which it was never supported, not even at the time when V6 was current.

I think to give a right reply to your answer by these:

I want to create a V6 istance because is supported from the host machine
that can permit the connect with an old db2 versione (4.0).
I think is too new the 8.1(the last) to connect at db DB2 4.0(somebody told
me so).

The distribution of Linux is
linux redhat server 2.1.
