 Hardware Planing.. Hello All, Does anybody have a good cocument for hardware planing to install DB2. I mean to say what size of disk we should use,Processor speed Memory size etc. while installing DB2. Can anybody please send a link or document for that. It would be a great help. Thanks in advance. Generally a good idea.  In case you can't get your hands on such a document, in most cases these rules will apply: * More smaller disks are better that less larger disks (20* 36GB is better than 10* 73GB (less dataloss in case of defect, and faster throughput in a raid). * Gigabit networking is always good. * Very very much memory, for optimal use of bufferpools. * In case of memory > 4GB make use of (a) 64bit CPU(s) (based on X86 architecture, thought on AIX the limit is even lower) * More than 1 CPU is adviced (especially in case of much database sided procedures) (DB2 will require licensing per socket, so multi core is also worth a consideration). If I'm wrong with any of these cases, feel free to correct me. -R- |

Hi Darshan, It depends on how heavy your application is + How heavy ur transaction load is + data size + response time that you expect (+ some factors which i really don't know).. Remember DB2 can be installed ranging from small PDA running OS like WinCE to More(most) powerful Main Frames.. Now tell us what is your need?? Cheers, Thiru.
