IBM DB2 Content Manager Vs IBM Content Manager OnDemand

Do we need to have IBM DB2 Content Manager software, to use Content
Manager OnDemand?

Basically I'm confused between the two & wanted to verify whether IBM
Content Manager is a mandatory software requried to use IBM Content
Management suite.
