Default sql server 2000 and windows xp home edittion

Ive seen several sellers, both retail and on ebay, who say that sql server
2000 developer
edition will run on windows xp home edition. Is this true? Some articles
I've seen imply yes
while other articles imply no. I'm trying to learn sql server and a lot of
books I've purchase
offer a 120 day evaluation. I'd prefer to buy an edition that I can afford
and will give me both
the server and tools.

A seller on ebay is selling the developer edition and it's price is within
my budget. I don't want
to buy it if it won't install on windows xp home.

Any help would be great. Thanks

The system requirements for SQLServer are listed here:
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluat...00/default.asp

According to this, Developer Edition does run on XP Home Edition.

The free 120 day eval does include the management tools (EM, QA, etc). You
can dowload it from the SQLServer home page.

Microsoft's retail price for Developer Edition is $49.95 so don't pay any
more than that.
