Default sqlserver 2000 standard licensing?

I've purchased SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition as part of a bulk lot. All I
have are the two CD's in original case with a product key on the back.

How do I tell if the license is CAL or CPU based? Is it tied into the
product key? Would I have to install it to find out? If it's a CAL licence,
how do I know how many users it is for?

I haven't got a win2k server or advanced server running at the moment so
it's not trivial to install and check.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Paul
