| Hi Kurt, The Developer edition of SQL Server is for development and testing only. It goes against the terms of the license to use it for any other purpose. Perhaps you're thinking of MSDE (Microsoft Data Engine) that is free, but limited to 2GB of data and is configured to slow down when more than 5 concurrent jobs are run. Also, MSDE does not have the nice client tools that come with SQL Server, the intention is that the application you are purchasing will have whatever front end you need for SQL Server housekeeping. Both of these versions have the same data structure as SQL Server Standard or Enterprise so upgrading is easy. -- Cindy Winegarden MCSD, Microsoft Visual FoxPro MVP cindy.winegarden@mvps.org, www.cindywinegarden.com "kurtgraves" <kurt@legal-rx.com> wrote in message news:3175893.1059757608@dbforums.com... > > I'll be starting with just a single user for a few months- I've been > told that I can use the "deeloper" version of SQL to use this on a > standalone PC to defray my server costs for those months- do you know if > the developer version of SQL can be upgraded or do I have to purchase > the multi-user licenses and just eat the cost of developer? |
