Default ODBC Connection through Microsoft Excel

I have a database named ET4.2. It is vendor software and the vendor requested
that I name the database this. When I try to make an ODBC connection from
Excel it gives me the error "Could not find server 'ET4' in sysservers". I
have tried using "ET4.2", 'ET4.2' and [ET4.2]. Any ideas how get to make this
work?
