| The Mogwai project is proud to announce the redesigned version of the famous Mogwai ERDesigner entity relationship design tool! Mogwai ERDesigner NG is the redesigned version of the prior Mogwai ERDesigner. In its current development phase, it supports visual editing and reverse engineering of the following databases : MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL , Oracle and generic JDBC. The database model is stored as a XML file, so it can be further processed by other tools. The new Release 1.0.1 includes some bugfixes, and is also the base for further development like SQL DDL generation and schema version tracking. Feel free to visit the projects website at http://mogwai.sourceforge.net for more details. Take care! Mirko Sertic Project admin |

As far as I can see this is an open source free utility which is intended to assist in developing with and maintaining MySQL applications. He is not trying to sell anything which is what advertising is generally taken to be used for. I say again, seems right on topic to me. |

So if it were for a free blowjob for anyone programming in mysql, under your interpretation, it'd be ok since it's free? >I say again, seems right on topic to me. Because you ignored this: Posting of advertising and/or promotional material of any kind to comp.databases.mysql is explicitly prohibited. It followed that which you quoted above. Meaning, of course, it further refined the first statement. The charter was carefully crafted and discussed before the group was created. People here know how to go to sourceforge on their own and find things that are of meaning to them. They don't need it promoted in this technical forum. You want adverts? Create an alt group. In a nutshell, it was promotional material. It was off charter. Whine away, it'll do you no good. It was off charter. Period. Oh, and btw, your stupid newsreader is putting spaces between the news groups in the Newsgroups line in violation of RFC. (Just so you know. That's obviously not off charter. -- gburnore at DataBasix dot Com --------------------------------------------------------------------------- How you look depends on where you go. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary L. So maybe you'd be better of telling them that their newsreader software is stupid and in violation of RFC. > Whine away, it'll do you no good. I thought it was you who was whining about it being off charter. Since it has been posted and similar things to this will almost certainly be posted again, I suspect it is actually your whining that will do no good. |

So maybe you'd be better of telling them >that their newsreader software is stupid and in violation of RFC. Yeah. Several NSP's are working on that. Google ain't all that bright. From your other posts, it appears that you know what you're doing and I figured you'd want to know. >> Whine away, it'll do you no good. > >I thought it was you who was whining about it being off charter. Nope. If it were a whine, it wouldn't have been here. I'd have simply forwarded his post, with headers, to his provider. Seems to me it was better to let him know now once, that his post wasn't on charter than to just get him in trouble without explaining why. MOST NSP's act on valid charter complaints. This isn't alt.* It's not anything goes. It's chartered for a reason. It's ok if you don't like the reason, but the charter is still there and enforceable. If you wanted the charter to be different, you should have spoken up back when it was being crafted and discussed. You should have been part of the creation process. If you want, you can propose changes to the charter to allow such posts. I can give you info on how to create such a proposal if you don't already know how. Just remember that once you let the flood start, you'll never stop it. >Since it has been posted and similar things to this will almost certainly be >posted again, I suspect it is actually your whining that will do no >good. Based on that argument, people speed. They've done it before and they'll do it again so there's no sense having laws to stop it and no sense writing tickets to enforce the laws. I happen to believe otherwise. Feel free to get in a last word on the issue if you want, but I've got the charter on MY side. Your "well others did it so others can too" won't help if they lose an account over it. -- gburnore at DataBasix dot Com --------------------------------------------------------------------------- How you look depends on where you go. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary L.
