No, Jerry, it's not. It's rather laughable that you, someone who
calls ANY post you don't like in an alt.* group spam would say that an
advertisment of any kind is allowed in comp.databases.mysql where the
charter expressly prohibits it.

Well, he can explain all he wants. I reported his post with full
headers to his ISP (bedag.ch) and asked Sourceforge to ban him for his
spamming activities.

I'm referring to comp.databases.mysql. It is perfectly within the
bounds of the charter to announce free tools applicable to MySQL.

Last time I looked at comp.databases, it would have been considered
on-topic there, also. But that's been a while, and might have changed.

I don't frequent the other newsgroups, so don't know.
