Default bussiness logic - how to develop in mysql

hello,
we are in the middle of migration from one IT platform to new one. Due to
delay in the project I had to implement some temporary solutions in mysql
database. I have a couple of SQL statements which are executed via linux
shell scripts. Unfortunatelly I have to develop some bussiness process a
little more complicated then other. I am a familiar with php but on the
server php interpreter is compiled w/o mysql module. Remote access to mysql
database is not alllowed.
finally there is my question: how to develop bussiness logic over mysql?
Idea of processes I would like to programme is simple:
- check condition
- if something is true execute sql statement 1
- if something else execute sql statement 2
etc., without interaction with user, without other I/O operations.
I hope my problem is clear described. If you have any suggestions please let
me know, i will be gratefull for any answers.
regards,
R.

Some solutions require a scripting/programming environment. Have
whomever created the php environment recompile it with MySQL since you
can't do remote access.

Time to discuss the issues with a manager who can wack some heads and
make things happen. You're attempting to do an end run around a
migration. Sounds like it's not going well. Call the migration team
together, present your problem, workarounds, and ask for ideas. Someone
may come up with a viable solution. Otherwise, your migration is doomed.

This is more a political than a technical issue. Use the people to get
it fixed.

Business logic can be programmed in stored procedures in mysql. So
when you started your stored procedure, you'd have incoming and
outgoing params. You'd take your incoming param, verify if its
condition 1 or 2, then execute your sql statement storing its result
into your outgoing param.

I read more of your posting too - it sounds almost as if you want
these to be scheduled? I think in the greatest version of mysql, you
can do some sort of timed 'jobs' too, so they could execute your
stored procedure. I'm pretty fuzzy on them because I haven't had a
chance to check them out yet.

Sometimes things are 'political' and sometimes there are good
reasons. Either way, its my opinion its the developer's job to voice
accurately and respectfully the best way to solve the issue and what
risks are associated with not doing it the proper way, but be able to
solve the issue regardless. To know the right answer and be able to
execute a hack in the mean time while waiting for the better solution
to come by is the mark of a good programmer, IMHO.

thank you for your answers.
I have decided to programmed our processes in stored procedures in mysql.
to schedule some procedures I have a trick: shell batch a few times per day
insert one dump value to table. some triggers are based on this event. so I
can easy schedule my procedures by cron.

regards,
R.
