ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

When i try to start my mysql server, i get this error

ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

I usualy start it witn /bin/mysql
I use Fedora core 3
