Kick off a command line process with mysql trigger upon insert

Hi I want to dump the contents of a row in mysql upon insert to a URL
or a perl script for processing. Please note I just want the trigger
to "kick off" a process that does xyz, but not wait for that process
to complete. Does anyone have some code examples and can this be done
with mysql ?
