| Hi all I would like to specialise in the SQL language itself. My idea is to use this knowhow as an SQL programmer on all SQL servers. Is this practical idea to be an SQL programmer? Am I waisting my time with this idea ? Thanks in advance EC |

SQL is a data retrieval language, not a programming language per say. As such, it is generally embedded in other languages, and you need to know those other languages. There are jobs for database administrators, though, who have a thorough working knowledge of SQL.
