Default Buildmaster: Could not open device

Hello NG!

I have try to install sybase 11.9.2 in Linux 8.2.

i have already set the raw device for the Mater device.

like this:
as root

mknod -m 777 /opt/sybase-11.9.2/raw1 b 162 1

(it's right?)

and set it for sybase user.

the problem is that if i run the server. it shows always the same error message

like this
Building Adaptive server 'ffm1dev2':

Buliding master device ... Task failed
Master device: /opt/sybase-11.9.2/raw1
Buildmaster: Could not open device "/opt/sybase-11.9.2/raw1".
Server 'ffm1dev2' was not created.

Done.

can anybody help me? PLEASE??

11.9.2 doesn't support raw devices on linux. Use 12.5.x instead.

You may have an too old kernel version. Check the readme files that come with
12.5 ASE for Linux.
