| I installed the free 12.5 developers version on Redhat 8. The PC is fast enough but with only 512MB of RAM. I allocated the minimum 64MB of shared memory. When creating a new server in srvbuild it took a long time for the process to complete (I thought it had crashed until I read the init/logs files). One part especially slow was the running of the installmaster script. The master device was assigned as 50MB with master db of 40MB. The default of 120MB for sybsystemprocs was also used. Would there be any reason why the server creation took so long? It was never this slow installing the free 11.9.2. Martin |

| You can try 12.5.1 Martin <martinhanna@nospammovilla.plusnospam.com> wrote: > I installed the free 12.5 developers version on Redhat 8. The PC is fast > enough but with only 512MB of RAM. When used there the database creation scripts are quite fast, especially over raw devices. | Does it mean Sybase will not plan to support RH8/9? That said ASE runs fine on RH 7.x and 8, and there is a valid work-around for 9.
