Default Connection problems

Hello,

I would like to know if someone can help me out with a little problem
I have.
I can connect to my database through the Oracle Enterprise Manager but
I can't connect through the SQL*Plus. Any ideas on what may be going
on? what am I doing wrong?... my tnsnames.ora is correct, I checked it
already and it looks fine.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks
Cynthia

No version number?
No operating system?
No error message?
No listener.ora?
No sqlnet.ora?
No tnsnames.ora?
No indication of whether from client or on the server?

Sorry my crystal ball is broken and my taro cards need to be shuffled.
I'd shuffle the cards but I have a single malt in my hand.

Two very quick things to check...

Is your version of OEM using the same tnsnames.ora as your version of
SQL*Plus or do you have multiple tnsnames files on your computer? If
multiple, do they all contain the connection information you need?

Is your net service name qualified? OEM might be able to connect if the
net service name is mydb where SQL*Plus connecting from the same computer
could require mdyb.mydomain.com.

Past that you'd have to supply a lot more information with your
question.
