| Hi, I am a new Progress user and would like to know if some can help me to point me in the right direction: I want to implement an application with Progress Database running on a SCO or LINUX server. My question is: is Progress stable in SCO or LINUX and what version of Progress is best suited for this OS. And what is the recommendation of the tool to develop the application in the front end? Can I use Progress itself? My client want the application to be GUI based. Your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks |

The easiest development tool is Progress 4gl o Appbuilder. The ERP software that I use runs ontop of Progress and I know the ERP maker has implemetations on Redhat, Suse, and Solaris. As for developing the front end, Appbuilder as suggested is the most native way to go. You can also use WebSpeed by Progress, or maybe a combo of JBDC/ODBC and some webscripting. If this is going to be a mission critical app, you'll probably want to stick with appbuilder/webspeed. Cheers Joe |
