| My client has several contract openings in Portland, OR. They are expected to last through July 15th. We will pay the full per diem allowed for the Portland area. Here is the total list of contractors we need: 3 Progress developers - prefer 10 years of Progress experience 3 Test engineers - one to be fluent in Quebec French 1 Project manager - preferably PMI certified Location: Portland, OR area Duration: Now through July 15 Software Engineers: For the Progress SE's we do not need experience doing package conversions and add-ons. Our application is huge and totally custom. Our experience is that we need folks that have experience with large custom applications and large databases. Our application takes a minimum of 2 years to learn. Our largest table has about 15 million records. We have nearly 4,000 source files. To be effective in 5 months a contractor needs to be very sharp and know how to approach a huge system that they know nothing about in an industry where they have no experience. Our industry is data services for insurance claims. We're not involved in a flavor of manufacturing. So the programmer has to be a quick learner that can confine their investigations and work to a very small area of a system they'll never really understand in 5 months. Also, this contract work is in our character application. GUI, SmartObjects and Webspeed experience are irrelevant. They'll be working with procedural character code that can't be converted to anything else. It stays what it is and is enhanced. We have our own extensive common procedures and frameworks. Our environment is HP Unix. We have a structured methodology environment (CMM and ProcessMax). They need to be very familiar with following procedures and doing proper documentation. Test Engineers: Because our environment for these three projects is character Unix we don't need testing automation experience. That's handled on some of our other projects. We need solid testing methodologies and years of experience doing test plans, test cases and manual tests. We have a structured methodology environment. They need to be very familiar with following procedures and doing proper documentation. Project Manager: We have these three new projects that need to be tightly managed. Someone with many years of experience managing software projects is needed. My preference would be someone who is Project Management Institute (PMI) certified - PMP. Autosource information: We provide vehicle valuation services for the insurance industry for settling their insurance claims. We import 2.4 million vehicle ads and dealership inventories into our database every week. Projects: 1 - Data import from a new third party vendor. Data to be stored and placed on our valuation reports 2 - Complete multiple-language conversion of our valuation reports for marketing first in Quebec in French. Conversion is about 50% done. 3 - Integrate existing imported data into our database structure with mapping to our keys. This is almost all backend work with no user interface work. There is report output work. Environment: Progress database and languages on HP Unix. Totally custom application Large database of 200Gb, largest tables with 15 million records each Development group of 20, CMM level 2 certified with structured methodology I hope this helps in characterizing what experience set we need for these projects. Thanks for your help in locating folks for our projects. You can call directly and ask for either Jana James or Gerry Cohen at: Modis 1-925-328-1903 |
