pbuild on cygwin

HELLO

i'm having problems with the pbuild script on cygwin
setting up the developer's briefcase

i've set the environment variables
like so -

PATH="$PATH:C:\Program Files\POSSE\src\adebuild"; export PATH
DLC="C:\Program Files\Progress Developer's briefcase"; export DLC
POSSE="C:\Program Files\POSSE"; export POSSE

but when i run pbuild uimode=gui i keep getting
Bash: pbuild: command not found AHHHHHHHHHH

after some tinkering i found that /cygdrive/c
was the c drive ( absolutely no unix experience )
tried a few variation on the environment variables
and finally got it working but the script went crazy
errors, process failed etc. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

i'm about to set the computer on fire
can someone please spell it out for me
how to compile the source code
