Atkinson & Associates, the Progress language only, international
search firm is interviewing candidates for a client company located in
sunny Orlando Florida. Following is a detailed job description
provided
by the hiring company.

Provide software solutions to the organization to make it
function more efficient. Hardware solutions will be provided for and
maintained by IBM under the Yellowstone Agreement. Analyze
information flow from the initiation of a Customer Order at Field
Sales to the collection of payment and closure of the Customer Order.
Generate custom software interfaces to standard company software
packages through the use of several programming tools and
environments. Streamline business processes via the support,
development, and implementation of functionality while working within
and contributing to the BAU application architecture, and leveraging
other development activities within the BAU.

Specific attention will be given to the relationship that exists
between Lake Mary and Florence, making the transactional interface
more automated. as the business models continue to further evolve,
special consideration will need to be given to any new business
segments as it pertains to incorporating them into the PTMV IS
architecture.

All development and solutions must focus on the ERP system as the
foundation, and fit within the application architecture established by
the BAU. The upgrade path of the ERP system and the tools associated
with the ERP system must be taken into account. Specific
functionality will need to be provided that will make the business
efficient, through the use of established tools and architecture.

Controller, Switchgear and Circuit Breaker Technology Solutions and
BAU IS Manager (dotted line)

SUPERVISES:

N/A

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


? Develop a common interface between all standard software
libraries.

? Eliminate departmental ?satellite? databases and systems.
? Develop data mining and interface applications for individual
departmental needs through the use of Lotus Notes, Lotus Domino,
Syteline (Progress and SQL), and Visual Basic.Net.
? Provide a means for presenting pertinent business data to all
departments and persons associated with the organization (internal and
external)
? Primary support will be focused on Progress, AutoCAD /
Promise*E, SQL and its associated Microsoft tools.
? Provide Systems and process analysis for all departments, and
integrate processes into the business system.
? Provide a common workflow interface for all inter and intra
departmental processes.
? Eliminate redundant data entry.
? Provide an overall data architecture that will allow the
company to effectively develop E-commerce applications and intranet
application where needed.
? Determine and recommend interface applications and data
structures for external customers, corporate analysis, and daily
operational needs.
? Maintain a log of all requests and turn around time to the
user community. Savings must be recorded and justified with each user
request.
? Provide specific input with regards to Information Systems
Infrastructure (ISI) to ensure that proper hardware and systems exist
to support business activities.
? Provide and develop a strategic Information Systems plan will
provide for the use of new technologies and concepts while leveraging
the BAU tools and architecture, and creating a competitive edge for
the business.
? Support the systems needs of the ERP system concerning
database management, running of utilities, setting up background
process for nightly runs, establishing and maintaining security and
information backup processes to insure Corporate Requirements are met.
? Perform administrative and support functions for specific
Information Systems.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCES:


? Completion of a four-year degree in Computer Science, MIS, or
a related field from a regionally accredited college.

? Masters degree in Business or IT related field is desired.

? Four (4) years experience developing applications in a
manufacturing environment.

? 1 year of experience with E-commerce and Internet
applications.

? Knowledge of Progress 4GL, Microsoft Visual Basic.Net, and
Microsoft SQL, Syteline 6.0 and Syteline 7.0 are mandatory.

? Knowledge of Lotus Notes, Microsoft IIS server, Visual C,
Visual Basic, C#, FoxPro, Microsoft.Net are a plus.

? Highly self-motivated and goal oriented, desires to improve IS
job related skills independently.

? Ability to streamline business processes and recommend changes
to organizational structure

? Detailed understanding of database structures and Internet
applications

? Strong communication skills.

? Strong organization skills
