how to change the password of user 'postgres'.

Hi Group!
I am using Red Hat Linux ES 3. With apache, php & pgsql &
I need to change the password of user 'postgres' on PGSQL from commamd.
I read the manual of pgsql but I am not able to change the password.
please any body tell me what are the steps need to take to change the
password.
