| Well, according to the docs at http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.1/i.../plpython.html the correct name would be "plpythonu". As a matter of facts, you can do a 'select tmplname from pg_pltemplate;' to check wich languages are available. Hope it helps. I'm not sure what the current status is; search the list archives for past discussion.
