| Is it just me or has the search feature of docs site just gotten really stupid? I used to be able to search for phrases and turn up muliple hits. I just did a search for "System admin" and got NO hits. I could browse Solars 10's pdf files, but couldn't search. What gives? Or is the default answer "sigh"? -- DeeDee, don't press that button! DeeDee! NO! Dee... [I filter all Goggle Groups posts, so any reply may be automatically by ignored] |

Try google, "system admin" "solaris 10" site:docs.sun.com" Results 1 - 10 of about 890 from docs.sun.com for "system admin" "solaris 10" > What gives? Or is the default answer "sigh"? Yes. |

The latest version, I think version 6, was suppose to have fixed some performance and search functionality. In some ways it has corrected some, but yet the searches are poor at times and VERY often are extremely slow. Also I find when searching for key words like "kernel patch" you have to trudge through gobs of patch results to get to the more recent kernel patches, clicking the "Obsoleted by" links. Sun has confirmed that they're working on these issues and that it will get better. Sigh! Maybe one approach would be to start over with SunSolve when Solaris 11 comes out and make the new site full of information on Solaris 11 only. Just an idea. However, the amount of information they're trying to manage has got to be staggering. IMHO it hurts Sun when their support site does not have a .Dot, in their Dot.Com. {:-\ |

Well, I didn't mean to get rid of the current SunSolve, but possibly an option or check box to TRULY only pull up Solaris 11 material. Or possibly a link from the main SunSolve main page to a new SunSolve11 set of pages. I don't know, it is very difficult to organize, maintain, and update that much information. They must have Terabytes of data to support the customer. I frankly would not want that difficult position, neither as a developer, nor a program manager. Truly a challenge! Good luck Sun!
