I suspect it's not a supported filesystem. Also, firewire support in Solaris is fairly limited. At least Mac OS X filesystems are case preserving case insensitive, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same was true on the iPod. If you just want to snarf files back off an iPod, just get PodUtil!
